Ingredients

Gnocchi

  • 1 pound Gnocchi Made from potatoes or a combination of potatoes and flour.

Mushrooms

  • 8 ounces Mushrooms Use cremini, shiitake, or button mushrooms.

Fresh Basil

  • 1/4 cup Fresh Basil Leaves Roughly chopped.

Olive Oil

  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil For sautéing.

Garlic

  • 2 cloves Garlic Minced.

Salt and Pepper

  • Kosher Salt To taste.
  • Black Pepper Freshly ground, to taste.

Parmesan Cheese

  • 1/4 cup Parmesan Cheese Freshly grated, optional for serving.

Instructions

  • Gather all your ingredients: gnocchi, mushrooms, fresh basil, olive oil, garlic, salt, and pepper.
  • Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat until shimmering.
  • Add the gnocchi in a single layer and cook for 5-7 minutes without stirring until golden brown.
  • Flip the gnocchi and cook for another 5-7 minutes until both sides are golden and crispy.
  • In a separate pan, sauté sliced mushrooms with a pinch of salt for 8-10 minutes until golden brown.
  • Add minced garlic to the mushrooms and sauté for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  • Combine the toasted gnocchi with the sautéed mushrooms and garlic in the skillet, tossing gently.
  • Add chopped fresh basil and stir for 1-2 minutes to meld the flavors.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste, and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese if desired.
  • Serve immediately, garnished with additional fresh basil and cheese if desired.
