Ingredients

Fresh Fish

Lime Sauce

  • 1/4 cup Lime juice Freshly squeezed from about 2 medium-sized limes.
  • 1 tablespoon Lime zest Zest from one lime.
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced Fresh garlic for depth of flavor.
  • 1/4 cup Fresh cilantro, chopped Adds herbal freshness.
  • 1 teaspoon Salt To season the fish.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black pepper, freshly cracked For subtle warmth.
  • 1 pinch Chili flakes (optional) For added heat.
  • 1 cup Water For steaming the fish.

Instructions

  • Prepare your ingredients by rinsing the fish fillets and patting them dry.
  • Zest the lime and set the zest aside.
  • Juice the limes to yield about 1/4 cup of fresh lime juice.
  • In a bowl, combine lime juice, lime zest, minced garlic, chopped cilantro, salt, black pepper, and chili flakes to create a marinade.
  • Place the fish fillets in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over them. Let marinate for 10-15 minutes.
  • Prepare your steamer by filling a pot with 1 cup of water and bringing it to a gentle boil.
  • Place the marinated fish fillets in the steamer basket in a single layer.
  • Cover the steamer and steam the fish for about 8-10 minutes until it flakes easily with a fork.
  • Carefully remove the fish from the steamer and transfer to a serving plate.
  • Drizzle any remaining lime sauce over the fish and garnish with cilantro or lime wedges before serving.
