Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 14 oz Firm Tofu Drained and pressed to remove excess moisture.
  • 0.25 cup Teriyaki Sauce Look for a low-sodium version if desired.
  • 1 tablespoon Sriracha Sauce Adjust based on heat preference.
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger Powder
  • 0.5 cup Panko Breadcrumbs For binding and crunch.
  • 0.25 cup Green Onions Chopped for freshness.
  • to taste tablespoon Canola Oil For frying.
  • 4 pieces Burger Buns Choose your favorite type.

Optional Toppings

  • to taste Leafy Greens For serving.
  • to taste Tomato Slices Optional for added juiciness.
  • to taste Avocado Optional for creaminess.

Instructions

  • 1. Begin by preparing the tofu. Drain the firm tofu and wrap it in a clean kitchen towel. Place a heavy object on top to press out excess moisture. Let it sit for at least 30 minutes.
  • 2. In a mixing bowl, combine the teriyaki sauce, sriracha sauce, garlic powder, and ginger powder. Whisk together until well blended.
  • 3. Once the tofu is pressed, cut it into thick slices or cubes. Place the tofu pieces into the marinade, ensuring they are fully coated. Allow it to marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  • 4. While the tofu is marinating, heat a tablespoon of canola oil over medium heat in a skillet.
  • 5. After marinating, dredge each piece of tofu in panko breadcrumbs, ensuring each side is well coated.
  • 6. Carefully place the breaded tofu in the skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
  • 7. Toast your burger buns in a separate pan until golden.
  • 8. Remove the tofu from the skillet and place it on a paper towel to absorb excess oil. Allow it to cool slightly before assembling your burger.
  • 9. To assemble, start with the bottom half of the toasted bun. Layer it with leafy greens, followed by the crispy tofu patty. Add any optional toppings as desired.
  • 10. Finish with the top half of the bun and serve immediately.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. You can freeze the tofu patties before frying for up to three months.
