Instructions
1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and break it into smaller pieces as it cooks. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
2. Drain excess fat from the skillet, leaving a bit for flavor.
3. Add the chopped onion and bell pepper. Sauté until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
4. Add minced garlic and sauté for another minute until fragrant.
5. Stir in ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, mustard, chili powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
6. Reduce heat to low and let simmer for about 10 minutes.
7. Prepare hamburger buns, toasting if desired.
8. Taste the filling and adjust seasoning if necessary.
9. Spoon the Sloppy Joe mixture onto the bottom half of each bun. Add optional toppings if desired.
10. Place the top half of the bun on each serving and enjoy warm!
Notes
Sloppy Joes can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. They can also be frozen for up to 3 months.
