Ingredients
2
cups
Fresh Cranberries
Firm and plump, rinsed thoroughly.
1
cup
Granulated Sugar
For sweetening and coating.
0.5
cup
Water
Filtered water recommended.
Optional Flavorings
Pinch of salt or citrus zest can be added.
Instructions
Rinse the fresh cranberries thoroughly under cool running water and discard any blemished or soft berries.
In a medium saucepan, combine the water and granulated sugar. Heat over medium, stirring until the sugar dissolves to create a simple syrup.
Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, ensuring it does not boil.
Add the rinsed cranberries to the saucepan and stir gently to coat them in the syrup.
Remove from heat and let the mixture cool for about 15 minutes.
Prepare a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Transfer the cranberries to the baking sheet using a slotted spoon, spreading them in a single layer.
Sprinkle additional sugar over the cranberries and gently roll them to coat.
Let the cranberries sit at room temperature for at least one hour to allow the sugar to adhere.
Serve immediately or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
Notes
Consider adding citrus zest or spices for variations. Store in an airtight container for freshness.
