Instructions

  • Rinse the fresh cranberries thoroughly under cool running water and discard any blemished or soft berries.
  • In a medium saucepan, combine the water and granulated sugar. Heat over medium, stirring until the sugar dissolves to create a simple syrup.
  • Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, ensuring it does not boil.
  • Add the rinsed cranberries to the saucepan and stir gently to coat them in the syrup.
  • Remove from heat and let the mixture cool for about 15 minutes.
  • Prepare a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Transfer the cranberries to the baking sheet using a slotted spoon, spreading them in a single layer.
  • Sprinkle additional sugar over the cranberries and gently roll them to coat.
  • Let the cranberries sit at room temperature for at least one hour to allow the sugar to adhere.
  • Serve immediately or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
