  • 1 can (15 oz) Chickpeas Rinsed and drained
  • 1/4 cup Tahini
  • 1-2 cloves Garlic Minced
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh Lemon Juice Juice of one medium lemon
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil Extra virgin
  • 1 pinch Salt To taste
  • 2-3 tablespoons Water To adjust consistency
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ground Cumin Optional

Instructions

  • Gather all your ingredients on a clean countertop.
  • Open the can of chickpeas and pour them into a colander. Rinse under cold running water and allow to drain.
  • Transfer the drained chickpeas into a food processor.
  • Add the tahini to the food processor.
  • Add the minced garlic.
  • Squeeze the fresh lemon juice over the mixture.
  • Pour in the olive oil.
  • Sprinkle a pinch of salt over the mixture.
  • Process the ingredients on high speed for about 30 seconds, then scrape down the sides of the bowl.
  • Continue processing for another minute until creamy.
  • If too thick, add water one tablespoon at a time until desired consistency is reached.
  • Add ground cumin if desired and blend for another 15-30 seconds.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
  • Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl and smooth the top.
  • Drizzle olive oil on top and garnish with paprika or parsley if desired.
  • Serve immediately with pita bread, vegetable sticks, or your favorite dippers.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. Drizzle olive oil on top to maintain freshness.
