Gather all your ingredients on a clean countertop.
Open the can of chickpeas and pour them into a colander. Rinse under cold running water and allow to drain.
Transfer the drained chickpeas into a food processor.
Add the tahini to the food processor.
Add the minced garlic.
Squeeze the fresh lemon juice over the mixture.
Pour in the olive oil.
Sprinkle a pinch of salt over the mixture.
Process the ingredients on high speed for about 30 seconds, then scrape down the sides of the bowl.
Continue processing for another minute until creamy.
If too thick, add water one tablespoon at a time until desired consistency is reached.
Add ground cumin if desired and blend for another 15-30 seconds.
Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl and smooth the top.
Drizzle olive oil on top and garnish with paprika or parsley if desired.
Serve immediately with pita bread, vegetable sticks, or your favorite dippers.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. Drizzle olive oil on top to maintain freshness.
