Ingredients

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of all-purpose flour and 1 teaspoon of salt. If using baking powder, add it here as well. Whisk until evenly mixed.
  • Create a well in the center and pour in 3/4 cup of warm water and 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Mix until a rough dough forms.
  • Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place the kneaded dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rest for at least 30 minutes.
  • After resting, punch down the dough and divide it into 6-8 equal portions.
  • Roll out each portion into a thin circle, about 1/8 inch thick.
  • Preheat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Cook each flatbread for about 1-2 minutes on each side until golden brown and puffed up.
  • Remove from skillet and cover with a kitchen towel to keep warm while cooking the remaining portions.
  • Serve warm with your favorite dips, stews, or salads.

Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days or freeze for up to three months.
