Simple Beef and Broccoli Stir Fry

Ingredients

Beef

  • 1 pound Sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced Slice against the grain for tenderness.

Broccoli

  • 2 cups Fresh broccoli florets Cut into bite-sized pieces.

Aromatics

  • 2-3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh ginger, grated

Sauces

  • 1/4 cup Soy sauce Use low-sodium if preferred.
  • 1 tablespoon Oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch Mix with water to form a slurry.
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil For stir-frying.

Garnish

  • 1 teaspoon Toasted sesame seeds Optional, for garnish.

Instructions

  • Slice the beef into thin strips against the grain and place in a bowl.
  • Add 1 tablespoon of soy sauce and 1 tablespoon of cornstarch to the beef. Mix well and let marinate for 15 minutes.
  • Wash and cut the broccoli into bite-sized pieces.
  • Minced the garlic and grated the ginger.
  • Heat a large wok over medium-high heat and add 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil.
  • Add the marinated beef to the wok in a single layer and sear for 1-2 minutes without stirring.
  • Stir-fry the beef for an additional 2-3 minutes until browned but not fully cooked. Remove from the pan.
  • Add minced garlic and grated ginger to the wok and stir-fry for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Add the broccoli florets and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp.
  • Return the beef to the wok and mix well with the broccoli.
  • Pour in the remaining soy sauce and oyster sauce, and simmer for 2 minutes.
  • Mix cornstarch with water to create a slurry and add it to the wok, stirring until the sauce thickens.
  • Drizzle sesame oil over the stir fry and stir well to combine.
  • Transfer to a serving platter and garnish with toasted sesame seeds if desired.
  • Serve hot over rice or noodles.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days. Reheat gently.
