Instructions

  • Wash the broccoli thoroughly under cool running water, shake off excess water, and pat dry.
  • Cut the broccoli into bite-sized florets, including the tender stems.
  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the olive oil. Allow it to warm until it shimmers.
  • Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Add the broccoli florets to the skillet and toss gently to coat in the olive oil and garlic.
  • Sprinkle salt and pepper over the broccoli and stir to combine.
  • Cover the skillet with a lid and let the broccoli steam for about 5 minutes.
  • Check the broccoli; it should be bright green and slightly tender. If needed, steam for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  • Remove from heat, squeeze lemon juice over the broccoli, and toss to combine.
  • If using, sprinkle Parmesan cheese over the warm broccoli and allow it to melt slightly before serving.
