Ingredients

Caramel Sauce

  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar For caramel topping.

Custard Base

  • 4 large Eggs Fresh for best results.
  • 1 can (14 oz) Sweetened Condensed Milk Adds richness and creaminess.
  • 1 can (12 oz) Evaporated Milk Lighter texture compared to cream.
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Bean or Extract Use high-quality for best flavor.
  • 1 pinch Salt Enhances overall flavor.

Instructions

  • Step 1: Prepare the caramel by melting sugar in a saucepan over medium heat until it turns amber. Pour into flan mold and set aside.
  • Step 2: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Step 3: In a mixing bowl, whisk the eggs until blended.
  • Step 4: Add sweetened condensed milk and evaporated milk to the eggs, whisking until combined.
  • Step 5: Incorporate vanilla and salt into the mixture.
  • Step 6: Pour custard mixture over the caramel in the mold.
  • Step 7: Place the mold in a baking dish and fill with hot water halfway up the sides of the mold.
  • Step 8: Bake for 50-60 minutes until set, with a slight jiggle in the center.
  • Step 9: Cool in the water bath for 30 minutes, then refrigerate for at least 4 hours.
  • Step 10: Run a knife around the edge and invert onto a platter to serve.
  • Step 11: Slice and serve chilled.
