Instructions
In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently to avoid overworking the meat.
Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape them into patties, about ¾ inch thick.
Heat a skillet or grill over medium-high heat and add cooking oil. Allow the oil to heat until it shimmers.
Place the patties on the hot skillet or grill and cook for 4-5 minutes on one side without moving them.
Flip the patties carefully and add a slice of cheese on top of each patty immediately.
Continue cooking for another 3-4 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F.
Slice the hamburger buns in half and toast them lightly until golden brown.
Assemble the burgers by spreading chilli sauce on the bottom half of each bun, adding lettuce, the cooked patty with melted cheese, tomato, and onion.
Finish with the top half of the bun and serve immediately while warm.
