  • Skillet or Grill
  • Spatula
  • Toaster

Ingredients

Beef Patty Ingredients

  • 1 pound Ground Beef Use 80/20 meat-to-fat ratio for juiciness.
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder

Toppings Ingredients

  • 1 cup Chilli Sauce Homemade or store-bought, thick enough to stay on the burger.
  • 4 slices Cheese Choose melting cheese like cheddar or Monterey Jack.
  • 4 pieces Hamburger Buns Preferably brioche or whole wheat.
  • 1 medium Onion Slice for garnish; caramelized adds sweetness.
  • 1 medium Tomato Slice for garnish; use ripe for best flavor.
  • few leaves Lettuce Crisp varieties like Romaine or iceberg.
  • 1 tablespoon Cooking Oil For frying the patties; use oil with a high smoke point.

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently to avoid overworking the meat.
  • Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape them into patties, about ¾ inch thick.
  • Heat a skillet or grill over medium-high heat and add cooking oil. Allow the oil to heat until it shimmers.
  • Place the patties on the hot skillet or grill and cook for 4-5 minutes on one side without moving them.
  • Flip the patties carefully and add a slice of cheese on top of each patty immediately.
  • Continue cooking for another 3-4 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F.
  • Slice the hamburger buns in half and toast them lightly until golden brown.
  • Assemble the burgers by spreading chilli sauce on the bottom half of each bun, adding lettuce, the cooked patty with melted cheese, tomato, and onion.
  • Finish with the top half of the bun and serve immediately while warm.

Notes

For variations, consider using plant-based patties, different cheeses, or additional toppings like avocado.
