Instructions

  • 1. In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of buttermilk with 1 teaspoon of salt and a dash of black pepper. Whisk until well combined.
  • 2. Submerge the chicken breasts in the buttermilk mixture, cover, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  • 3. In a separate bowl, combine 1.5 cups of flour, 2 teaspoons of paprika, 1 teaspoon each of garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Whisk together.
  • 4. Beat 2 eggs in a small bowl until frothy.
  • 5. Heat 2-3 cups of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • 6. Remove chicken from the marinade, dip in beaten eggs, then coat in the flour mixture.
  • 7. Fry chicken for 5-7 minutes on each side until golden brown. Check internal temperature (165°F).
  • 8. Toast hamburger buns in the skillet until golden brown.
  • 9. Assemble the sandwich with lettuce, fried chicken, tomato, and mayonnaise.
  • 10. Serve immediately while hot and crispy.
