Ingredients

Chicken

Instructions

  • 1. Rinse the chicken thighs under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.
  • 2. In a large bowl, mix together the garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Rub this seasoning mixture all over the chicken thighs and marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  • 3. Set up a breading station with buttermilk in one bowl and a mixture of flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper in another bowl.
  • 4. Heat oil in a skillet or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  • 5. Dip each chicken thigh into the buttermilk, then dredge in the seasoned flour, pressing down to ensure an even coating.
  • 6. Fry the chicken in batches for about 7-8 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature of 165°F or 74°C).
  • 7. Remove the chicken from the oil and place it on a wire rack set over a baking sheet to drain excess oil.
  • 8. In a small saucepan, combine honey, hot sauce, and red pepper flakes. Heat over low heat until blended.
  • 9. Drizzle the hot honey sauce over the fried chicken.
  • 10. Serve immediately, garnished with fresh herbs.

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days. Reheat in the oven to retain crispiness.
