  • 4 tablespoons Unsalted Butter Melted and mixed into the dough for richness.
  • 2 tablespoons Water Add gradually to adjust dough consistency.

Instructions

  • Gather all your ingredients and ensure your sourdough starter is active and bubbly.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine one cup of sourdough starter with the melted butter and mix until well combined.
  • Add in one and a half cups of all-purpose flour and one teaspoon of salt. Stir until mostly incorporated.
  • Add in your shredded cheese and mix until evenly distributed.
  • If the dough appears too dry, gradually add a tablespoon of water at a time until it comes together.
  • Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently for about a minute.
  • Divide the dough into two equal portions, shape into disks, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Roll out one disk of dough to about 1/8 inch thick and cut into squares or desired shapes.
  • Place the cut crackers onto the prepared baking sheet and repeat with the second disk.
  • Sprinkle extra cheese or sea salt on top if desired, then bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  • Let the crackers cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
