Ingredients

Meat Mixture

  • 1 pound Ground Beef Use 80/20 lean-to-fat ratio for juiciness.
  • 0.5 cup Breadcrumbs Plain breadcrumbs for binding.
  • 1 medium Onion Finely chopped for flavor and moisture.
  • 1 large Egg Acts as a binder.
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder Enhances savory flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Salt Essential seasoning.
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black Pepper Freshly cracked for best flavor.

Gravy

  • 2 cups Beef Broth Low-sodium preferred.
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce Adds tangy depth.
  • 2 tablespoons Flour Used to thicken the gravy.
  • 2 tablespoons Cooking Oil For frying the patties.

Instructions

  • Chop the onion finely and set it aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, egg, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
  • Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape into oval patties, about ¾ inch thick.
  • Heat the cooking oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for 4-5 minutes on each side until browned and cooked through.
  • Transfer the cooked patties to a plate and cover with foil to keep warm.
  • In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium and add flour. Stir for about 1 minute.
  • Whisk in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce until thickened, about 4-5 minutes.
  • Return the patties to the skillet, spoon gravy over them, and simmer on low for 5 minutes.
  • Let sit for a few minutes before serving warm with gravy.

Notes

Serve with mashed potatoes or steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
