  • 4 cups All-Purpose Flour Forms the base of the dough.
  • 1.5 cups Warm Water Activates the yeast.
  • 2.25 teaspoons Instant Yeast Leavening agent for rising.
  • 0.25 cups Sugar Enhances flavor and browning.
  • 1 teaspoon Salt Enhances flavor and controls yeast activity.
  • 0.25 cups Unsalted Butter, melted Adds richness and flavor.
  • 1 large Egg, beaten Adds moisture and richness.
  • Sesame Seeds Optional topping for added flavor.

Instructions

  • 1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm water and sugar. Sprinkle instant yeast on top and let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  • 2. In a large bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour and salt.
  • 3. Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and pour in the yeast mixture, melted butter, and beaten egg. Stir until dough begins to come together.
  • 4. Transfer dough onto a floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • 5. Place kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm area for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
  • 6. Punch down the dough, divide into 8 pieces, roll each into a ball, and flatten slightly.
  • 7. Place shaped buns on a baking sheet, cover, and let rise for another 30-45 minutes until puffed.
  • 8. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • 9. Brush tops with melted butter and sprinkle sesame seeds if desired.
  • 10. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  • 11. Cool on a wire rack before serving.

Notes

Store leftover buns in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for up to three months.
