Instructions

  • Gather all your ingredients on a clean working surface.
  • In a medium saucepan, combine water, sugar, and salt. Bring to a gentle boil.
  • Remove from heat and add flour and baking powder. Stir until a cohesive dough forms.
  • Let the dough cool for about 10 minutes.
  • Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a star-shaped tip.
  • Heat vegetable oil to 375°F (190°C) in a heavy-bottomed pot.
  • Pipe strips of dough into the hot oil and cut to desired length.
  • Fry for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  • Remove churros and drain on paper towels.
  • Roll churros in a mixture of sugar and cinnamon while warm.
  • Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauces.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to two days. Reheat in the oven for best results.
