Instructions

  • Gather all your ingredients to ensure a smooth cooking process.
  • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté for about 3–4 minutes until translucent.
  • Add the minced garlic and sauté for another minute, stirring frequently.
  • Introduce the diced carrots and celery. Cook for about 5–7 minutes until softened.
  • Add the ground chicken, breaking it apart with a spoon. Cook for 6–8 minutes until no longer pink.
  • Stir in the tomato paste and cook for an additional 2–3 minutes.
  • Pour in the crushed tomatoes and bring to a gentle simmer.
  • Season with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Adjust to taste.
  • Reduce heat to low and let simmer for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Stir in the chopped fresh basil just before serving.
  • Serve hot over pasta, polenta, or as a filling for various dishes.

Notes

For a richer flavor, consider adding a splash of chicken broth during simmering. This dish is also freezer-friendly.
