Instructions
Prepare your ingredients: dice the onions and carrots, mince the garlic, and peel and cube the potatoes.
In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat a tablespoon of oil over medium heat. Add the diced onions and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
Add minced garlic and diced carrots to the pot. Sauté for an additional 3-4 minutes until the carrots start to soften.
Add the ground meat to the pot, breaking it apart, and cook until browned, about 8-10 minutes.
Incorporate peas, beef broth, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir and let simmer for about 5 minutes.
Meanwhile, boil the cubed potatoes in salted water until fork-tender, about 15 minutes. Drain and mash with butter and milk.
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Spread the meat mixture in the bottom of the pot.
Spoon the mashed potatoes over the filling, spreading evenly and creating texture on top.
Bake for 25-30 minutes until the top is golden brown and crispy.
Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
For variations, consider using lentils for a vegetarian option or adding cheese to the mashed potatoes.
