Peeled, cored, and chopped into small pieces.

Packed and finely chopped.

Instructions
Prepare your ingredients: wash, peel, core, and chop the apples into small cubes. Rinse and finely chop the mint leaves.
In a large saucepan, combine the chopped apples, water, and lemon juice.
Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring to a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally.
After about 10 minutes, check the texture of the apples. They should be tender and easily mashable.
Remove from heat and mash the apples to your desired consistency.
Return to low heat, add sugar and chopped mint, and stir well.
If using, add ground cinnamon and let simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
Let the sauce cool slightly, then ladle into sterilized jars.
Seal the jars and let cool to room temperature before refrigerating.

Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks or freeze for up to 6 months.
