Ingredients for Easy Mint Apple Sauce

  • 4-6 medium Fresh Apples Peeled, cored, and chopped into small pieces.
  • 1/4 cup Fresh Mint Leaves Packed and finely chopped.
  • 1/4-1/2 cup Granulated Sugar Adjust based on sweetness preference.
  • 2 tablespoons Lemon Juice Freshly squeezed.
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • 1 pinch Ground Cinnamon Optional.

Instructions

  • Prepare your ingredients: wash, peel, core, and chop the apples into small cubes. Rinse and finely chop the mint leaves.
  • In a large saucepan, combine the chopped apples, water, and lemon juice.
  • Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring to a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally.
  • After about 10 minutes, check the texture of the apples. They should be tender and easily mashable.
  • Remove from heat and mash the apples to your desired consistency.
  • Return to low heat, add sugar and chopped mint, and stir well.
  • If using, add ground cinnamon and let simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
  • Let the sauce cool slightly, then ladle into sterilized jars.
  • Seal the jars and let cool to room temperature before refrigerating.

Notes

Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks or freeze for up to 6 months.
