Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Grease a 9x13-inch casserole dish with butter.
Peeled and thinly slice the potatoes, placing them in cold water to prevent browning.
In a saucepan, melt the butter and sauté the minced garlic until fragrant.
Add the heavy cream, salt, pepper, and nutmeg; simmer for 3-4 minutes.
Stir in the cheddar cheese until melted and smooth.
Drain the potatoes and pat dry. Layer them in the baking dish, adding cheese sauce between layers.
Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
Remove foil and bake for an additional 30 minutes until golden and bubbly.
Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
