Instructions
1. Prepare the ingredients: Wash and chop the tomatoes, and place them in a large mixing bowl.
2. Wash and slice the cucumber, then add it to the bowl with the tomatoes.
3. Slice the red onion thinly. If desired, soak in cold water for 10 minutes, then add to the bowl.
4. Cut the stale bread into cubes and add to the mixing bowl.
5. Tear the fresh basil leaves and sprinkle them over the salad.
6. In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Season with salt and pepper.
7. Drizzle the dressing over the salad and toss gently to combine.
8. Let the salad sit for 15 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
9. Toss again before serving, adjusting seasoning if necessary.
