Classic Homemade Tiramisu

  • 16 ounces Mascarpone Cheese Provides a rich and creamy texture.
  • 24-30 pieces Ladyfingers Also known as savoiardi, these sponge cookies absorb coffee.
  • 1-1.5 cups Coffee Strong, brewed coffee, cooled to room temperature.
  • 0.5 cup Granulated Sugar Sweetens the mascarpone mixture.
  • 4 large Eggs Separated into yolks and whites.
  • 2 tablespoons Cocoa Powder For dusting the top of the tiramisu.
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt Enhances the flavors of the mascarpone filling.

Instructions

  • 1. Brew about 1 to 1.5 cups of strong coffee and let it cool to room temperature.
  • 2. In a mixing bowl, beat 4 egg yolks with ½ cup of sugar until pale and creamy (3-5 minutes).
  • 3. Fold in 16 ounces of mascarpone cheese until combined.
  • 4. In a separate bowl, beat 4 egg whites with a pinch of salt until stiff peaks form (4-6 minutes).
  • 5. Gently fold the whipped egg whites into the mascarpone mixture.
  • 6. Dip each ladyfinger in the cooled coffee and layer them in a 9x9-inch dish.
  • 7. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.
  • 8. Repeat with another layer of soaked ladyfingers and the remaining mascarpone mixture.
  • 9. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
  • 10. Dust with cocoa powder before serving and enjoy!

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
