Instructions

  • In a medium mixing bowl, combine the brown sugar, soy sauce, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Whisk until the brown sugar is mostly dissolved.
  • Place the salmon fillets in a shallow dish or resealable bag. Pour half of the marinade over the salmon and let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  • Heat a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Add olive oil and allow it to heat until shimmering.
  • Remove the salmon from the marinade and season with salt and pepper. Place skin-side down in the skillet and cook for 4-5 minutes.
  • Flip the salmon and pour the reserved marinade over the top. Reduce heat to medium and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes.
  • Check for doneness; the salmon should be opaque and flake easily with a fork.
  • Remove from skillet and drizzle with any remaining glaze. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions if desired. Serve immediately.
