Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour Base for the biscuits.
  • 1 tablespoon Baking Powder For leavening.

  • 1/2 cup Cold Unsalted Butter Creates flakiness in biscuits.
  • 3/4 cup Milk Brings biscuit dough together.

Gravy Ingredients

  • 1 pound Ground Sausage Main flavor for the gravy.
  • 1/4 cup All-Purpose Flour for Gravy Thickens the gravy.
  • 2 cups Milk for Gravy Makes gravy creamy.

Seasonings

  • Black Pepper To taste.
  • Optional Spices Cayenne pepper or paprika for extra flavor.

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Whisk until well mixed.
  • Cut cold butter into small pieces and mix into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Slowly add milk, stirring gently until the dough comes together.
  • Turn the dough onto a floured surface, pat into a rectangle, and fold a couple of times.
  • Cut out biscuits and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  • In a skillet, cook ground sausage over medium heat until browned.
  • Sprinkle flour over sausage, stir, and cook for 1-2 minutes.
  • Gradually pour in milk while stirring to avoid lumps. Simmer until thickened.
  • Season gravy with black pepper to taste.
  • Split biscuits and spoon gravy over the top to serve.

Notes

Store leftovers separately in airtight containers. Reheat biscuits in the oven and gravy on the stovetop.
